St. Joseph has seven-game win streak snapped by Sedalia

riggertMustangsThe St. Joseph Mustangs suffered their second loss of the season and had their seven-game win streak snapped as they fell at Sedalia Monday night 9-1.

St. Joe’s summer college baseball team is now 12-2 this season and 9-2 in the MINK League.

The Mustangs only had three hits on the night, but they got off to a good start as Orencio Fisher and Jacob Richardson led off the game with singles.  Fisher scored on a passed ball to make it 1-0, but St. Joseph only got one more hit the rest of the game.

Sedalia scored three runs in the second inning and added to its lead with single runs in the fifth and sixth innings, and four more in the seventh.

Richardson had the other Mustangs’ hit as he finished 2-for-4.

Mitch Steinhoff suffered the loss as he allowed four runs and four hits in five innings of work.  He walked five and struck out one.

The Mustangs are back on the road Tuesday as they play against Branson in Bolivar.  The first pitch is at 5:00 p.m.
