20150616-155327_ThomasMichaelWMichael William Thomas 37, of Saint Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, June 15, 2015 at Mosaic Life Care, in Saint Joseph, MO. He was born November 29, 1977 in St. Joseph, MO, son of Cheryl and Joseph Thomas. He graduated from Mid Buchanan and attended Missouri Western State University for four years. He married Michelle Grier February 14, 2005 and she survives of the home. He enjoyed fishing and writing poems but most especially he loved to spend time with his family and was a Royals fan and a Christian. Survivors include, wife, Michelle Thomas of the home. mother, Cheryl Thomas of St. Joseph, father, Joseph Thomas of Agency, MO, three sons, Joseph Snapp, Joshua and Gabriel George, one daughter, Makinze Karl, two sisters Becky Chesnut of Dearborn, MO, and Kelsey Thompson of St. Joseph, MO and a half sister Lori White of St. Joseph, three brothers, Matthew Thomas of King City, MO, Christopher Reddis and Brandon Reddis both of Tucson, AZ, paternal grandmother, Jeanie (Richard) Nicholson of St. Joseph, MO, four aunts, Lisa Rodgers of St. Joseph, MO, Tracy Bowden of Denver, CO, Leighann Whetsel of St. Joseph, MO, and Cindy Newton of St. Joseph, MO.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am, on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at the Rupp Funeral Home, with Rick Lumm Officiating officiating, The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday at the Rupp Funeral Home.  Jackie “Jack” L. Schuman
1944 – 2015

jack schumanJackie “Jack” L. Schuman 70, St. Joseph, MO passed from this life on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at Diversicare of St. Joseph. He was born in St. Joseph, MO to Charles Schuman and Arlena June (Cobb) Weir on September 2, 1944.
Jack served in the US Navy from 1961 to 1965.
He is survived by son, Jeffery Schuman; daughter, Kelly Angus, both of Des Moines, IA; sisters, Cindy Scott, St. Joseph, MO, and Pamela Gilliland, Atchison, KS; and four grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Jack was preceded in death by his father, mother, stepfather, Cecil Weir; and brother Ronald Schuman.
Jack has been cremated and no visitation or services are scheduled per his wishes. Arrangements entrusted to Gladden – Stamey Funeral Home, St. Joseph, MO.

 
Juanita Mae Barber
1933-2015

jmillerJuanita Mae Barber, 82, of St. Joseph, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2015 at a local hospital.Juanita was born January 14, 1933 to Glenn and Viola (Russell) Valentine in St. Joseph, where she lived her entire life. She was a 1950 graduate of Benton High School. On November 27, 1954 she married Colonel Barber who she shared over fifty years of marriage with before his passing March 1, 2006. In 1992 she retired from Nodaway Valley Bank, where she worked as a bookkeeper. She was a member of former Hyde Valley United Methodist Church. She also was a member of CAJ and the Railroad Old Timers Club. She enjoyed traveling and especially enjoyed her time with family and friends.Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband, Colonel; a brother, Howard Valentine; and nephew Michael Valentine.Survivors include two children, Jackie Barber of Victorville, California and Lisa Barber of St. Joseph; three grandchildren, Jeremy Barber and his wife Stacy, of Anchorage, Alaska, Megan Venegas of El Paso, Texas, and Gary Barber, of Victorville, California; one great-grandson, Vance Venegas; two nephews, James and Paul Valentine and several great-nieces and great-nephews.Ms. Barber has been cremated under the care of Clark-Sampson Funeral Home.A gathering of family and friends will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, June 20 at Clark-Sampson Funeral Home. A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to CAJ Scholarship Fund, c/o Nodaway Valley Bank.
