The St. Joseph Mustangs snapped their two-game losing streak Tuesday night as they won at Joplin 14-1.
St. Joe’s summer college baseball team improves to 25-11 and 21-10 in the MINK League.
The Outlaws took a 1-0 lead in the second inning, but it was all Mustangs after that.
They tied the game in the third, added three runs in the fourth inning, two in the sixth and they broke it open late with eight runs in the final two innings.
Jordan Powell and Francisco Alvarez led St. Joseph’s 19-hit attack as they each went 3-for-4. Orencio Fisher, Jacob Richardson, Scott Braren, Tony Maselli and Jackson Schnurbusch added two hits each.
Schnurbusch drove in four runs for the Mustangs, while Powell added three RBI.
Dixon Marble earned the win as he allowed just one run on five hits in eight innings of work. He struck out four and walked two as he improves to 4-1 this summer.
St. Joe returns home Wednesday night as they host North Kansas City in a non-league game at 7:00 p.m. inside Phil Welch Stadium.
