St Joe City Manager and former Director of Public Works Bruce Woody hopes to name his replacement at Public Works as soon as possible. The city has announced a list of three finalists for the post.
They will take part in a day-long series of interviews and a tour of the community. City Manager Bruce Woody hopes to name a director as soon as possible following the process.
The city of St. Joseph has announced the candidates for the director of public works. The three candidates are in St. Joseph as part of the interview process and are named as follows:
Denis L. Atwood was born and raised in Alberta, Canada where he earned his Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering at the University of Calgary. Moving to Las Vegas, Nevada, he commenced post graduate work at the University of Nevada Las Vegas while working as a designer for local engineering firms. In the early 1990s, he joined the City of Las Vegas’ Department of Public Works where he was promoted to Manager of Engineering Design and Construction Management, a position he held until 2003 when he returned to the private sector holding senior management roles for nationally based firms. Mr. Atwood is very active in his community where he has served on professional boards and chaired committees. Denis and his wife, Kim Atwood, have been married for 25 years and have two sons; a senior in high school and a senior at UNLV.
David M. Botts received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from Southern Illinois University and his Masters in Public Administration from Northern Illinois University. He has over 30 years of experience in the private and public sectors, with roles in engineering as well as executive leadership, and has been actively involved in municipal government for over 20 years with the city of Beloit, WI. For the past 13 years, he has served as the public works director overseeing approximately 160 employees in the divisions of Engineering; Parks & Leisure Services; Public Transit; Operations, including Streets, Terrace, Solid Waste and Fleet; and, Water Resources, including Water, Sanitary Sewer and Storm Water Utilities. Mr. Botts serves on the board of directors for several civic organizations in Beloit, and is affiliated with the Boy Scouts of
America, having earned Eagle Scout recognition.
Jody L. Carlson is a licensed professional engineer and has nearly 20 years of experience working in the public sector. He began his career with the state of Missouri in 1993 and has continued to take positions of increasing responsibility and authority. His current position includes the oversight of a capital budget of $27 million and directing an operation of 360 employees in 20 counties throughout northwest Missouri. Jody graduated from the University of Missouri – Columbia with his BS in Engineering and obtained his P.E. License in the state of Missouri in 2000. Jody is very active in his local community and is a member of the St. Joseph Metro Chamber and assisted in the establishment of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater St. Joseph. Jody and his wife, Nicki, have six children and enjoy spending their spare time outdoors.
