The Missouri Department of Conservation says the new e-permit system creates new opportunities for identity theft. Spokesman Jim Low says a thief could use your conservation ID number to buy hunting and fishing permits at your expense.

Low says all permits except Lifetime and Commercial are now available online, so protecting your conservation ID number is a good idea. Low says the e-permit system is very handy but you don’t want to make your account handy for someone else.
