U.S. 59 closed in Holt County

under-construction-150271_1280OREGON, Mo. – Contractors working with the Missouri Department of Transportation closed U.S. Route 59 at the Interstate 29 overpass in southern Holt County for a bridge replacement project. Motorists will be unable to access U.S. Route 59 from Ventura Drive on the north side of the overpass. In addition, northbound motorists on I-29 will be unable to access U.S. Route 59 at Exit 67, the south Oregon exit. Southbound traffic will not be able to access Ventura Drive, but will have access to U.S. Route 59 to Oregon.

Interstate 29 will remain open throughout the project, however, traffic will be rerouted over the ramps while the old bridge is removed. The removal of the old bridge could happen as early as this week. The project is anticipated to last through October.

This bridge replacement project is part of a contract that included the replacement of the twin bridges at Exit 75 on I-29. Contractors were able to reopen both bridges to interstate traffic on Aug. 7 and opened U.S. Route 59 under the bridges at that location on Friday, Aug. 14.

All work is weather permitting and schedules are subject to change.
