Larry D. Hunt
1939-2015

20150822-133734_huntlarryLarry D. Hunt 76, of Saint Joseph, MO passed away Friday, August 21, 2015 at Mosaic Life Care. He was born January 31, 1939 in Booneville, MO, son of Opal and Charles Hunt. He graduated from Central High School and attended 2 years of college at the Electronic Institute in Kansas City. He married Carol Belz on May 1, 1959 and she survives of the home. He retired from Buchanan County Western Division as a Bridge Supervisor, he also worked at Renzenberger Transportation for Railroad. He enjoyed raising and showing horses, and Basenji Registered Dogs, and was a member of St. James Catholic Church, Agency Masonic Lodge AFAM, and the Faucett Lions Club. Larry was preceded in death by his father Charles Hunt, mother and step father Opal and Leo Harvey, three brothers, William, Jewell, and Paul Hunt. Survivors include wife, Carol Hunt of the home, three daughters, Andrea (Dave) Glidewell of Valrico, FL, Lisa (Randy) Glidewell of St. Joseph, MO, and Dallas Hunt of Dekalb, MO, nine grandchildren: Eric Gildewell, Alexis Marshall, Tristan James, Nicholas Glidewell, Kane Glidewell, Mackenzie McKnight, Madison Johnson, Ziba Hunt, and Zane Hunt, 9 great grandchildren and a sister, Mary Lou (Keith) Kinert of Kansas City, MO.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 26, 2015, at 11:00 am at the St. James Catholic Church, Fr. Vincent Rogers, and Father Evan Harkins Con-Celebrants. The Rosary will be recited at 5:30 pm, Tuesday at the Rupp Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday at the Rupp Funeral Home. Johnny Emery Harvey
1957-2015

Johnny Emery Harvey, 58, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Friday, August 21, 2015.

Myrl Lloyd Sartain
1920-2015

20150817-160751_SartainmyrlMyrl Lloyd Sartain was born October 26, 1920 in Howard County, MO and passed away August 22, 2015 at Diversicare in St. Joseph.
After serving in the navy during WWII, he went to Kansas City where he worked as a barber. Moving to St. Joseph in 1985, he was a member of Eastside Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Clara Patterson Sartain, by a great grandson, Bobby Horton, his parents, Clarence and Annie Sartain, and 6 brothers and 3 sisters. He is survived by a daughter, Patricia Horton, and husband Bob of St. Joseph, three sons: Don Sartain of St. Joseph, Aaron Sartain of Maysville, Phillip Sartain and wife Maralee of Pensacola, FL, 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 10 AM Tuesday at the Rupp Funeral home, the family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Monday, the interment will be at the Green Lawn Cemetery, Kansas City, MO. Willis T. Richter
1938 – 2015

thumbsWillis T. Richter, 77, St. Joseph, MO passed from this life on Monday, August 17, 2015 in St. Joseph, MO. He was born February 9, 1938 in DeKalb County, MO. to Fred & Elpha (Petty) Richter. He graduated from Union Star High School in 1956. In 1961 he married Dianna Hector and she preceded him in death in 1990. In 1992, he married Sally Garber and she survives of the home.
Willis loved his family and friends and the time he spent with them. He worked at Crouch Brothers, ONC, McLean, and Yellow Freight. He was a member of the 4 Million Mile Safe Driving Club for his impeccable driving record. He was currently working for Missouri Auto Dealers Exchange. He was a collector of model semi tractor trailers, an avid camper, and a St. Louis Cardinals fan. He was a member of St. Joseph Eagles Lodge since 1967. He also was a reserve in the Army National Guard.
Survivors include his wife Sally of the home; one son, Jeffrey (Paula) Richter of Savannah; two daughters, Carmen (Michael) Regan of St. Louis; and Sutton (Greg) Smith of Kansas City; ten grandchildren, Skyler, Spencer, and Preston Richter, Payton Lehr, Delaney and Shannon Regan, Mandi Moutray, Katie Jess, and Bethany and Bryce Ruoff; one great-grandson, Cooper Richter. Three brothers, Robert Lee Richter of Savannah, Herman Dale (Donna) Richter of Lee’s Summit, and Marvin Richter of Silver City, Iowa; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Dianna, and sister, Marjorie Campbell.
Visitation with the family will be Thursday, August 20, 2015 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM, at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home in Savannah, MO. A Celebration of Willie’s Life will be Friday, August 21, 2015 at 10:00 AM, at Breit–Hawkins Funeral Home; Savannah. Burial will follow in Memorial Park, St. Joseph, MO.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Wounded Warrior Project.

Willis Raymond Deering
1940 – 2015

thumbs (1)Willis R. Deering, 75, of Fillmore, MO passed from this life on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 in Oregon, MO. He was born March 2, 1940 in Whitesville, MO. to Raymond and Rachel (Clements) Deering. On January 21, 1967 Willis married Lois D. Rehm in Craig, MO and she survives of the home.

Willis cherished and loved his family and friends and the time he spent with them. He worked for over twenty years as a truck driver at Armour and Seitz. He enjoyed the farm where he raised horses and cattle. He restored a 1965 Ford truck and Participated in local parades. Willis liked having coffee and playing cards with friends.

Survivors include his wife, Lois of the home; three sons, Shane (Brooke) Deering, Savannah, MO, Shannon (Susan) Deering, Fillmore, MO, Scott (Sara) Deering, Maryville, MO; one daughter, Kimberly (Shawn) Lyon, Savannah, MO; seven grandchildren, Cade, Keelyn, Breanna, Bradley, Jacey, Audrey, and Cutter. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Wayne Deering and sister, Wilda Hill.

Public visitation with the family will be Friday, August 21, 2015 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, at Breit – Hawkins Funeral Home, Savannah, MO. A Celebration of Willie’s Life will be held Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 10:00 AM, at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Bennett Lane Cemetery, Savannah MO.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hands of Hope Hospice.


Esther L. Elardo
1926 – 2015

thumbsEsther Lorene Elardo, 88, St. Joseph, MO passed from this life on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 surrounded by her family. She was a life-long resident of St. Joseph, MO and was born on November 7, 1926 to James Elmer and Emma (Agee) Gossett.
Esther married Carl James Elardo, Jr. on November 15, 1946, in St. Joseph, MO and he preceded her in death on May 19, 2015.
She loved spending time with her family and provided care in her home to countless children. She loved baking, sewing and crocheting. Esther enjoyed the competition of games and played to win no matter how old her opponent. Having played softball throughout her life, she was also a fan of baseball and followed the Royals and the Atlanta Braves.
Survivors include a son, Larry (Dianne) Elardo, Groveland, MA; three daughters, Susan (Randy) Stuber, Polson, MT, Cathy McKim, Angela (John) Durr; all of St. Joseph, MO; eight grandchildren, Nathan, Neil, Nicholas Stuber, Megan Berg, Mallory McKim, Kyle & Nicola Elardo, and Abby Durr; three great-grandchildren. Her parents; and three brothers, Charles, James and Ellis Gossett, preceded her in death.
Celebration of Life will be 2 PM Friday, August 21, 2015 at Wyatt Park Christian Church, St. Joseph. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Public visitation and family receiving hours will be 5 to 7 PM Thursday at the church, St. Joseph, MO. Arrangements entrusted to Gladden – Stamey Funeral Home, St. Joseph, MO. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to children’s ministries at Wyatt Park Christian Church or Hope United Church of Christ, Cosby, MO.
