Russell Lee Leslie, Jr.
1965-2015

Leslie, Russell. obitphoto Russell Lee Leslie, Jr passed into eternal life on Wednesday, September 2, 2015. Russell’s story began on January 18, 1965. He grew up in Savannah, MO where he met many lifelong friends. After graduating from Savannah High School in 1983 he worked in construction prior to finding his 24 year career at Nestle Purina where he met his wife. Russell enjoyed his job as Maintenance Utility and had a lot of fun with his co-workers whom he loved like family.
Russell and his wife, Delora “Dee” shared a life for 20 years. He loved her three children as his own. Over the years they grew together through life’s many adventures. He loved and had a special bond with each one of them. His greatest joy was his role as Papa to his two granddaughters. He loved his “Little Angels” with his whole heart. He was a fierce protector who kept his family laughing and entertained throughout the years.
Russell enjoyed a lot of things in life. Anyone who knew Russell, knows he had a passion for old muscle cars. You could almost always find him in a garage working on cars, reading car magazines, spending time with friends at local car shows, or behind the wheel himself. More than anything, Russell loved people. Everyone who met Russell has a story to tell. He had a way of connecting to each soul he met throughout his lifetime.
Surviving family: Delora Leslie; Dana, Josh, Grace and Vivian Barton; TJ and Rochelle Marriott; Bailey Marriott and Ryan Norton-Lankford; John and Myrna Hartman; Pam Hartman; Andi and Mark Dryer; John and Stacey Hartman; Mark and Meredith Hartman; and numerous nieces and nephews who loved and supported him to the end.
Russell and Dixie Leslie Sr; Mike and Kim Leslie; Larry Leslie; Jason and Laura Leslie; Judy Drowns; Shayna and Rusty Hall. Many cherished nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins in the Leslie and Gullick families. Russell’s mother, Joyce Leslie, preceded him in death.
Russell loved his time in this world and didn’t want to be forgotten so we ask that you please bring a written story about Russell to be randomly read during his service at: Make 12 Church, 107 South 6th, St. Joseph, MO 64501 on Monday, September 7, 2015.
