griffon sculpture cropThe Missouri Western State University Police Department is investigating the report of a sexual assault on campus last month.

According to a case report from campus police, the incident happened September 27 between 1:30 a.m. and 3:00 a.m. The report is heavily redacted. It indicates they are investigating two counts of sexual assault in the first degree.

The report lists a single victim, two suspects, a witness and another subject who was somehow associated with the incident but not directly involved. All of the names and their personal details have been blacked out of the report. It also lists miscellaneous recovered property, but the description of that property is also redacted.

Kent Heier, the assistand director of public relations and marketing, says officials will not comment on the ongoing investigation. If the evidence warrants it, a report will be forwarded to the Buchanan County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for consideration of possible charges.
