The sixth time turned out to be the charm as the world’s two largest brewers agreed to join forces. Together, if the takeover is approved, Anheuser-Busch InBev and SAV Miller would produce almost a third of the world’s beer.
It’s the sixth time Anheuser Busch has asked, and Miller has finally said yes. British-based brewer SABMiller has accepted in principle a takeover offer from Anheuser Busch InBev.
Budweiser and Corona join Miller and Fosters in a takeover deal worth over $106 billion . For AB InBev buying its smaller competitor adds more breweries in Latin America and Asia and crucially opens up new growth markets in Africa.
According to Reuters, the deal would rank among the top five mergers in corporate history and the largest takeover of a UK company.
The two companies agreed to terms after SABMiller received an improved offer worth more than $100 billion from larger rival Anheuser-Busch InBev.
