Janis DiAnn Wineinger, 67, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at a healthcare facility in Overland Park, Kansas.
She was born November 9, 1947 in St. Joseph, Missouri.
She was a stay at home mother and later worked and retired from Headstart as a preschool educator. She was a very active member of Faith United Baptist Church. Janis was also a member of WOM at her church, Classy Cardinals Red Hat Club and Carnegie Culture Club. Her church and friends were an important part of her life. Her main love though was her family, especially her grandchildren.
Her kindness and compassion for others was without limits. She literally would give you the jacket off her back.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Forrest (Nichols) Crockett; husband of 34 years, Dennis; sister, Joyce Byrd; and niece, Amber Michaels.
Survivors include daughter, Heather Ezzell (Jeremy); son, Justin Wineinger (Adriane); six grandchildren, Raelyn, Emma, Cooper, Ella, Wrenly and Ali; sister, Susie Crockett Espirit; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

James B. Shannon
1939-2015
James B. Shannon, 76, Edgerton, Missouri passed away Friday, October 2, 2015 at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.
He was born August 25, 1939 in Gentry, Missouri.
James married Wilma Lou Miller in November 1980. She survives of the home.
He proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He served on the S.S. Cass and was stationed at the US Naval Station in Long Beach, California.
James worked at Nestle-Carnation as a laborer where he retired after 30 + years. He was a modern day cowboy and adored his wife.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Basil and Zona May (Murphy) Shannon; son, Steven Shannon; and step-brother, Ralph Wilson.
Additional Survivors include children, Rhonda Abbate, Missouri, Russell Middaugh, Colorado, Candy Wiley, Missouri, Carla Hamilton, Missouri, Patrick Shannon, St. Joseph, Missouri and Jimmy Shannon, Jr., Cameron, Missouri; two sisters, Rosalee Pigg, St. Joseph, Missouri and Minola Hise, King City, Missouri; nineteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Gregory D. Rother
1957-2015
Gregory D. Rother, 58, Craig, Missouri, passed away Monday, October 12, 2015 at a healthcare facility in Mound City, Missouri.
He was born March 19, 1957, to Paul and Joyce Rother in Fairfax, Missouri. Greg was a lifelong Holt County resident and graduated in 1975 from Craig Missouri High School. He received his Bachelor degree in Animal Science from the University of Missouri in 1979.
On March 12, 1983 Greg married Pamela Linck and they were blessed with a son, Justin. They later divorced. In 1996, Greg married LaRaine Egbert and she preceded him in death in 2013.
Greg was a man of many talents. He enjoyed music, playing the guitar, harmonica and trumpet. He spoke many time of how he enjoyed singing the Halleluiah Chorus with the campus Lutheran Choir on Easter morning. He enjoyed creating anything with wood or metal and many people got to enjoy his culinary creations. He loved guns and hunting. In the last 10 months his main focus was on his grandson, Maverick, his pride and joy.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Mound City, Missouri, Beta Sigma Psi Lutheran Fraternity, Alpha Zeta Honorary Agriculture Academic Society and a life member of the NRA.
Gregory was preceded in death by his father, Paul E. Rother, wife, LaRaine Rother; and brother-in-law, Dale Voltmer.
Survivors include son, Justin Rother (Aimee), Craig, Missouri; grandson, Maverick Rother; two sisters, Gail (Voltmer) Heitman (Bill) and Greta Drewes (David), both of Craig, Missouri; mother, Joyce Rother, Craig, Missouri; and four nieces and nephews, Ben Voltmer, April Beth Voltmer, Trevor Drewes and Wyatt Drewes.

Harold worked as a supervisor of a Kids TLC (Transforming Lives in Our Community)group home in Olathe, Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold, Sr. and Judith (Hunter) Ross.

Betty Lou McCarty 92, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at her home. She was born October 27, 1922 in rural Kansas, daughter of Mary and Henry Conard. She worked at H.D. Lee – seamstress and was a homemaker. She enjoyed to sew and play bingo. She was a former member of the Community Christian Church. Betty married Harry McCarty October 5, 1942 and he preceded her in death in 1986, she is also preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law, Virgil Hall, great-granddaughter, Molly Davis, five brothers, Ivan, Roy, Bill, Jim and Ralph Conard, three sisters, Elsie Admire, Zatta Vann, and Kathleen Grieshaber. Survivors include, two daughters, Anna (Rick) Bolinger, and Donna Hall (Richard Blackford) both of Saint Joseph, MO, five grandchildren: Mike Distafino (Michelle Hart), Brandi (Rex) Knowles, Brian Bolinger, Sherry Hall, and Debbie Hall, twelve great-grandchildren: Jessica (Austin) Thomas, Destiny Distafino, Connor Distafino, Jessica Hart, Bailey Stephan, Kayten Knowles, Bryce Bolinger, Brinnin Bolinger, Lennon Bolinger, Elijah Bolinger, Josh (Valerie) Hall, and Zac Davis, 7 great great-grandchildren, and two sisters-in-laws, Mildred Conard, and Phyllis Conard.

Joe Warde Howles, Jr., 61, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, October 12, 2015 at Mosaic Life Care.
He was born June 7, 1954 to Joe Warde Sr. and Bettye (Miles) Howles in Memphis, Tennessee. Joe married Norma “Scottie” Mabry-Howles on November 5, 1983. She survives in the home.
He graduated from University of Tennessee with a B.S. in Engineering. He also completed some graduate level classes.
Joe worked for Vlasic in Greenville, Mississippi, ConAgra in Louisiana, Friskies, Wilsey Foods, and MoDot all of St. Joseph.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Additional survivors include his son, Wade (Janet) Howles, Columbus, NE; grandson, Jackson Howles; mother, Bettye J. Miles Howles, Cordova, TN.

Virginia Rosenthal, 90, formerly of Cosby, MO passed away Monday, October 12, 2015 at a healthcare facility in Omaha, NE.
She was born October 3, 1925 to Charles Leo and Lilly Rachel (West) Hendrix in Rosendale, Mo.
She graduated from Rosendale High School in 1942, and attended one year of business school in St Joseph, MO. She married the love of her life, Edward Rosenthal, Jr. on December 24, 1944. She and Ed raised turkeys for fifteen years, and then moved to Cosby, Mo, to take over the Cosby Hardware store, which they ran for about thirty years.
Virginia and Ed were active members of Cosby Faith UMC and Andrew County 4-H. In 2000, Virginia moved to New Virginia, IA to be near her daughter. Since her retirement, Virginia enjoyed traveling, gardening, walking, and sewing.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Juanita Epperson; and brothers, Audra Hendrix and Arthur “Jack” Hendrix.
Virginia has two children, a daughter Sharon Dunkin (Jerry) of New Virginia, IA and Michael Rosenthal (Rhonda) of Omaha, NE.; four grandchildren, Steve Dunkin (Pam) of New Virginia, IA, Scott Dunkin (Julie) of Ames, IA, Carolyn Heckman (Phillip) of Boone, IA and Michele Rosenthal of Omaha, NE.; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lorraine E. Poores, 95, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Monday, October 12, 2015 at a local healthcare facility surrounded by family and very good, kind caregivers after a long battle with cancer.
She was born June 12, 1920 to Edward M. McCann and Margaret M. (Boyer) McCann in Easton, Missouri.
Lorraine attended school in Easton and graduated from Benton High School at the age of 16. She later met and married Frank T. Poores Sr. in Los Angelos, California on January 8, 1941 who preceded her in death on May 30, 2003.
She worked in office retail at Einbenders, managed Holly’s Women’s Wear for several years, and then managed the Spiegel’s mail order facility for the eight years they were in St. Joseph. After a call from her pal, Jack Fleck, she worked as the office manager for four Buchanan County Sheriffs, and in the office at Keith Marsh Chevrolet, then retired.
Lorraine loved to cook, watch and cheer the Kansas City Royals, the Kansas City Chiefs, the Boston Celtics, and K.U. basketball (we forgive you, Mom).
She loved children, animals and was a Christian.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; and all of her siblings, of which she was the youngest.
Survivors include daughters, Linda L. Barnett, Leslie A. Johnson (Mike), Platte City, MO, and Marsha G. Poores, St. Joseph, MO; sons, Frank T. Poores Jr. and Terry M. Poores, St. Joseph, MO.

She married William “Bill” Wood July 1, 1978. She graduated from Winnetonka High School. She was a wonderful housewife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend. Preceding her in death is father Myron Wayne Uptegrove, and Brother Carl Wayne Nichelson. Thomas Ray Young 24, of Savannah, Missouri, passed away Monday, October 12, 2015. He was born May 11, 1991 in St. Joseph, MO, son of Margaret and Tony Young. He worked in construction. He enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, playing with his kids, and anything outside, riding motorcycles and four wheelers. He was a member of the Lighthouse Church Fillmore, Missouri. Thomas was preceded in death by mother, Margaret Ann Young, paternal grandparents, Robert and Dorothy Young, maternal grandparents, George and Theresa Nash. Survivors include, father, Tony Ray Young (Terri Jones) of St. Joseph, MO, fiancé Corissa K.
