Chillicothe keeps its “StormReady” status

storm readyThe City of Chillicothe has successfully renewed its National Weather Service StormReady status.

According to the National Weather Service StormReady means communities are better prepared to save lives from the onslaught of severe weather through advanced planning, education and awareness.

Chillicothe Fire Chief, Darrell Wright said he feels it’s important for the community to maintain the designation.

“Let’s us and our citizens know that we have and keep everything up to date on weather reporting,” Wright said.

Officials with the weather service review the city’s severe response plan and equipment as part of the approval for the designation.

The city’s certification renewal will run through Dec. 17 2018.

The City of St. Joseph became a StormReady community in 2014.
