Bearcat soccer team loses at No. 10 Central Missouri 3-0

Northwest2013riggertThe Northwest Missouri State soccer team dropped Sunday’s road match at No. 10 Central Missouri 3-0 in Warrensburg, Mo.

The loss drops the Bearcats to 3-9-3 this season and 2-6-1 against conference opponents, while the Jennies improve to 14-2 overall and 7-2 in the MIAA.

Senior Katelynn Lindsey took a chance on goal on a free kick five minutes into the match, but the Jennie keeper made a leaping save.

In the 11th minute, junior forward Jessica Breyfogle pulled the trigger from outside the box after a pass from Gianna Huspen, but the ball sailed wide of the net.

Huspen one-timed a shot after a centering pass early in the second half, but was off target.

Forward Anna Holden took a shot from the top of the box following a Chelsea Fournier corner kick in the 68th minute, but a Jennie defender stepped in the way.

Senior keeper Elizabeth Lee made nine saves in the match, including seven in the second half.

The Jennies struck first in the 17th minute before adding two more goals after intermission.

Northwest Missouri State will return home for the final weekend of the regular season when they host Missouri Western Friday, Oct. 30 at 3 p.m.
