A freight train rammed into an unoccupied pickup truck just before 11:30am Wednesday in Holt County.

Officials say the crossing at Route O and Route T in Forbes, Missouri was under construction and closed to motorists.

Despite that, there was a light/gate/bell combination signal device in use at the time of the crash.  The crash report indicates the 2000 model year Dodge Dakota was stationary or stuck on the tracks at the time of impact. The truck was a total loss, while the train’s engine sustained minor damage.
