William “Bill” L. Gardner
1948-2015
William “Bill” L. Gardner 67, of Saint Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, November 23, 2015 at the Cameron, MO veterans home. He was born September 28, 1948 in Troy, KS, son of Gladys and Glen Gardner. He graduated from Troy High School served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He worked at Krause Milling and retired from Silgan Containers. He loved to golf, travel, eat out at restaurants, and was a huge Chiefs fan. He also was a pet lover and will miss his dog Doogie. He was of the Baptist faith. Bill was preceded in death by wife, Debra Elaine Gardner, his parents, two brothers, Ronnie and Donnie Gardner. Survivors include, daughters, Tanya McLaughlin and husband Michael of Denver, CO, April Gardner-Veale and husband Bill, of Saint Joseph, MO, step son, Jack Ray (Michelle) Perkins of AZ, step daughter, Jennifer Lynn George, brother, Jerry Gardner of St. Joseph, MO, sisters, Shirley Pompa of St. Joseph, MO, and Debbie Ptomey of San Antonio, TX, grandchildren, Sidney, Haley, Breeona, Hannah, Amanda, Jackson and Carson, great grandchild, Emerin, and his special friend, Lesa Gibson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 AM Saturday, November 28, at the Rupp Chapel. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm Friday also at Rupp. The Interment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials are requested to the friends of the Shelter, St. Joseph, Missouri. Katherine “Kathy” Sue Nichols
1948-2015
Katherine “Kathy” Sue Nichols 67, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Sunday, November 22, 2015 at her home. She was born April 30, 1948 in Auburn, NE, daughter of Helen “Sally” and Herbert Miller. She graduated from Lafayette High School 1966 and attended Moberly Bible College. She worked at Sam’s Club in the customer service department for several years, and was also substitute teacher in St. Joseph area. She was very involved with Special Olympics, Camp Quality, South Side Progressive Club the March of Dimes and the Salvation Army, volunteering numerous hours at all of those organizations. She was a member of the Community Christian Church. Kathy was preceded in death by father. Survivors include, her mother Sally Miller, daughter, Danette (Tom) Hester of LaVista, NE, son, Chris (Laurie) Nichols of Osborn, MO, four grandchildren; Brett, Courtney, Sydney Nichols and Brooke Hester, two brothers, Mike and Joe Miller of St. Joseph, MO, 2 nieces and 3 nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am, on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at Community Christian Church, with Rev. Brian Williams officiating, The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday at the Rupp Funeral Home. Ms. Nichols will be cremated following the funeral service. Scott Alan Baker
1965-2015
Scott Alan Baker 50, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Sunday November 22, 2015 naturally while deer hunting, doing what he loved. He was born January 2, 1965 in St. Joseph, Missouri son of Elaine & Ron Baker. He graduated from Benton High School 1983, participated in ROTC. He worked at Ventura Foods as a Tank Farmer. He enjoyed riding Harley Davidson motorcycles, hanging with friends, drag racing, hunting & fishing, a and camp fires. He was member of the Faith United Baptist Church. Scott was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Donna Jackson, paternal grandparents: Allen and Jessie Baker. He is survived by his parents, Ron and Elaine Baker of St. Joseph, MO, son, Brett Baker, daughter, Ashleigh (Josh) Johnson of St. Joseph, MO, grandchildren, Jaden, Preston, Brayden, Connor, and Emily, a sister, Dana (Donnie) DeSpain, niece, Mariah, maternal grandfather, Elmo Jackson of Savannah, MO, his loving companion, Jody Monahan of St. Joseph, MO, and several life long and close friends, Jerry Reynolds, Mike Cole, Butch Grimm, Dino Gardner, and his beloved dog, Bella. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 3:00 pm Wednesday with a memorial service to follow at 3:00 pm at the Rupp Funeral Home. He has been cremated under the care of the Rupp Funeral Home.
