The search for a person of interest in a shooting death of a St. Joseph man continues Wednesday while a potential witness to the crime remains behind bars on a drug charge.

As we previously reported, St. Joseph Police Department detectives are searching for 36-year-old Scott Lee Hollandsworth as a person of interest in connection with a homicide investigation that took place Monday evening at 1519 Felix St. Hollandsworth is described by police as a white man around 5’11, 160 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes.  Police said he should be considered dangerous and possibly armed.  As of 9:40 a.m. Wednesday Hollandsworth was still not in police custody.

Meanwhile, 58-year-old Joel Clark was charged Tuesday with a misdemeanor for unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.  Capt. Jeff Wilson said Clark was taken into

police custody at 1519 Felix St. at the same time police responded to investigate the homicide.  According to a sworn probable cause statement, around 10:25 that same night at the Police Department located at 501 Faraon St. officers found Clark to be in possession of drug paraphernalia.

“A small glass pipe which was burnt on the bottom and had white coating on the inside which was known to be used for smoking controlled substance. The pipe was removed from his front left pocket,” said Officer Greg Ogdahl in court documents. “He is a potential witness in a homicide that occurred.”

Online court documents list the address of 1519 Felix as Clark’s place of residence, the same address where police responded to the homicide.

“He has also only been staying at his current residence for only about four months and is not on the lease,” Ogdahl said. “He has at least four failure to appear warrants in St. Joseph.”

Bond has been set at $2,500 for Clark on the misdemeanor charge and an arraignment is set for Friday.

Capt. Jeff Wilson said Wednesday morning the victim’s identity will probably be released later in the day.

Anyone with information as to Hollandsworth’s whereabouts is asked to contact police at (816) 271-4777 or the TIPS hotline at (816) 238-TIPS.
