Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce President Jason Sarsany announced Tuesday that Mary Ingersoll has accepted the Board’s offer to serve as Director beginning January 2016.

The Director position is a restructure for the organization. Ingersoll will work part time, mostly outside the office, meeting business owners and other community members.

Ingersoll is a Savannah resident and business owner. She brings experience as non-profit director from her years as Managing Director of Performing Arts Association in St. Joseph. Ingersoll is committed to making Savannah a great community to live, work, and raise a family. She will continue to operate her business, Inspirations Dance Center, in addition to her work for the Chamber.

“The reconstruction of this role began many months ago as several parties converged including the 2015 Chamber Board, members from the City, County and Schools, to develop a set of strategic priorities for the chamber. From that, we crafted a job description that is tailored for the Chambers’ need,” said Jason Sarsany, outgoing Chamber President. “Mary brings a pleasant combination of ambition, knowledge, and business acumen to this role. I strongly encourage all business owners to sit down with her, to discuss how they can benefit from this new endeavor.”

“I’m thrilled for the opportunity to encourage business and build a fantastic community for our family and friends in Savannah and Andrew County,” Ingersoll said. “There’s a great history in the Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce and I’m excited to build on that. It’s an exciting time here with several new businesses opening recently and an exciting time for the Chamber with several board members for 2016 who have not served in the past. It will be a fantastic time to help this organization grow and shape into something with great value for the future.”
