On January 1, 2016, about 12 minutes into the New Year, the Andrew County Sheriff’s Office 911 Center received a call reporting a female had been shot at the Amazonia Ball Park, located on State Route T, just west of Amazonia, Mo., in Andrew County.

                Andrew County Deputies along with Troopers from the Mo. State Highway Patrol responded to the scene. Upon arrival at the Ball Park, officers found a 24 year old female, deceased, lying on the ground, with an apparent gunshot wound to the head. At the same time, officers detained and took into custody, a 21 year old Savannah, Mo. male, as a person of interest in the death of the female victim.

                The shooting investigation is being conducted by members of the Andrew County Sheriff’s Office and members of the Highway Patrol Division of Drug and Crime Control Unit. Although the investigation is in the early stages, the incident is believed to have been the result of a possible Domestic argument between the victim and the person of interest.
