Services are scheduled on Monday for a longtime Hiawatha, Kansas police officer who died unexpectedly Wednesday.
Officer Michael Thompson was with the Hiawatha department for nearly 40 years. A celebration of life service is planned Monday morning at 10:30 at the Fisher Community Center in Hiawatha.
According to the chapel Oaks Funeral Home, Officer Thompson will be buried at the Mount Olive Cemetery in Troy, with military honors provided courtesy of the Brown County Veterans Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Hiawatha Police Department National Night Out, sent in care of the funeral home, 124 S 7th St., Hiawatha, 66434.
