Renovations are completed on the final apartment at the transitional housing site for Hillcrest Transitional Housing in St. Joseph.
Hillcrest made the announcement Monday for the apartment complex located at 3000 Parkway A.
Apartment 105 was the last of the 19 apartments at Hillcrest to be completed. Hillcrest was established in St. Joseph in 2011 and has been in the apartment complex at 3000 Parkway A since 2013. The organization said the completed renovation of the apartments is part of an effort to revitalize the midtown area and to give life to a community struggling with homelessness.
“This is so exciting. Now that we have this apartment completed, we will be able to utilize all 19 of our apartments at Hillcrest.” says Shannen White, Affiliate Director of Hillcrest Transitional Housing of Buchanan County. “Thanks to the efforts of Commerce Bank we are able to help more families and individuals in our community reach self-sufficiency in the upcoming year.”
Now that the apartment is completely renovated, Hillcrest is looking for a church, business or service organization that would be willing to sponsor the apartment. This is a $5,000 per year commitment that includes furnishing the apartment as well as encouraging the residents in the program while on their journey to regain self-sufficiency.
The organization said tours of the facility are available. Anyone interested in sponsorship should call Shannen White at (816) 351-5774.
