Michael James Steeby

Michael James Steeby 46, of Savannah Missouri has passed away in Doniphan county, Kansas. He was born on August 24th, 1969 in Whittier, California. Growing up he loved both the oceans and mountains of California as well as the bluffs and river bottoms of Kansas. He was a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, and friend. Mike loved working with his hands and was a skilled contractor and landscaper. He enjoyed music, hunting and celebrating life with those around him. Everyone who knew Mike was familiar with his engaging smile and amiable personality. He loved being outside and relished the feeling of the warm sun on his skin. No one could deny Mike’s passionate nature. He would defend a friend without hesitation and was vocal about his opinions. He could be the life of the party or the quiet companion ready to listen to a friend in need. He loved deeply and experienced life’s highs and lows with an intense sincerity. A poncho and leather Jacket were a trademark of Mike’s wardrobe and he always had time to enjoy an In & Out burger or a cold drink with a friend.
He is survived by his loving parents Joann Jones as well as Otis “George” and Ellen Steeby, his siblings Rose Steeby, Lisa Smith and husband Ronnie, Melissa Mott and husband James Mott, Natalie Steeby, William Steeby and wife Shaun Steeby, and Ashley Steeby. He was a loving father to Michael Joseph Steeby, Jennifer Nichole Steeby, Julia Christine Stevens, Matthew Allan Steeby, and Jesse James Steeby. He has two grandchildren Brock and Brooklyn Steeby and one on the way. He is preceded in death by his elder brother Robert Steeby and younger sister Heather Steeby, his uncle Joe Acosta, aunt Nina Acosta and his grandfather William Schultz.
A memorial will be held in St Joseph, Missouri at Grace Evangelical Church (5103 South 50th St
St. Joseph, MO 64507) on Saturday January 23rd, 2016. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM and Services will begin at 3:00 PM. Phillip L.R. Sherman
1941-2016
U.S. VeteranPhillip L.R. Sherman, 74, of St. Joseph, passed away Sunday, January 17, 2016.
Phillip was born on July 8, 1941 in Albany, Missouri to the late Phillip Sr. and Wanda (Thomas) Sherman.
He was a graduate of Christian Brothers High School, and served in the U.S. Navy.
He married Linda Delgado on June 3, 1961 at St. James Catholic Church. She survives him of the home.
Mr. Sherman spent his career with the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of the American Legion and the Eagles Lodge. He loved playing golf and hunting.
In addition to his wife Linda, he is survived by four children and several grandchildren.
Mr. Sherman requested that he be cremated. No visitation or services will be held.
Cremation under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel.
