Career seminar for women coming to Northwest

Northwest logo with castleMARYVILLE, Mo. – Women who are looking to rejoin the workforce or advance their careers are invited to a Women’s Economic Empowerment Seminar at Northwest Missouri State University.

The seminar is 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, in the First Ladies Dining Room on the third floor of Northwest’s J.W. Jones Student Union.

It will provide women with an opportunity to review valuable job skills. The Northwest Enactus chapter and the Walmart Foundation are sponsoring the event.

“Whether they have been out of the workforce for some time, are seeking to rebrand themselves, or are simply looking to move up in their current position, our seminar will provide useful skills to help women achieve those goals,” Nathan Powell, an Enactus member and a freshman international business major from Laclede, Missouri, said. “Many similar programs focus on young women fresh out of high school or college, but what makes our program unique is that we are focusing on women who have been out of school and are looking to make a change in their lives.”

Seminar topics will include interviewing skills, dressing professionally and improving a resume. After a free lunch, attendees can participate in mock interview sessions. Enactus also will provide a job-seeking kit to all participants.

The Women’s Economic Empowerment Seminar is free and open to the public. Interested individuals should RSVP to Powell at [email protected] or call 660.562.1282 by Saturday, Feb. 20.
