Cold weather rule to end for utility customers

utilityMissouri’s Cold Weather Rule will end for utility customers March 31.

The Missouri Public Service Commission’s Cold Weather Rule, designed to help customers with heat-related utility bills went into effect in Nov. KCP&L is reminding the public that the rule will come to an end for 2016 on Thursday.

“We want to encourage eligible customers who are behind on their bills to contact us by March 31, so we can help them establish a payment plan,” KCP&L said in a news release.

Customers who have fallen behind on their bills could be at risk of having their utility disconnected. KCP&L said those interested in payment options should visit www.kcpl.com/financialassist for information on assistance programs available.
