Habiger/West breaks ground on new McDonald’s on the North Belt

At 6,500 square feet, St Joseph will soon boast one of the biggest McDonald’s franchises in the four-state area. And with interactive kiosks for ordering, a wait staff to deliver your meal to your table, and expanded play options for the kids, you may not recognize it.

Chris Habiger of Habiger/West joined Chamber of Commerce Diplomats, city and county leaders to break ground on the new facility.

Mayor Bill Faulkner says the new restaurant will have a big impact on St. Joseph in general and the North Belt in particular.

“Well I think we’re going to have one of the biggest McDonald’s in the four-state area, and so, I think anytime St. Joseph can be the leader in anything I think that’s good for the community,” Faulkner said. “And, with all the other construction that’s been going on up in this area, it makes it look attractive.”

“It’s happening up here.”

Mr Habiger tells us they hope to open the new restaurant at 3504 N. Belt on July 1, weather permitting.

“We’re going to be hiring 85 new members of our team,” he said. “In fact, if you go to jobs.stjoemcd.com we’ve already begun that process. We’re looking to have three or four advertised hiring events between now and our target grand opening of July 1st.”

“One of the big questions I’ve been asked since we tore this building down is ‘are we going to have a Play Place?’ Well the answer is yes,” Habiger said. “We will, with lots of different elements.

“The other thing is we’re going to have a private party room. So, whether it’s a birthday party or an after-church social, it could be the place to have a great event at McDonald’s.”
