Authorities blocked off the road in the 4200 block of Maxwell Road near the Northwood Apartments early Wednesday morning because of a water main break.

St. Joseph Police Sgt. Wayne Byrom says officers were dispatched at about 4:40 a.m.

Sgt. Byrom says Streets Department crews from City Yards were called in to set up barricades.  It was not immediately clear how many residents’ water service were affected. Crews from Missouri American Water were dispatched to shut down the main and repair the damage.
