Authorities said a pursuit which started in Clinton County ended in a crash in Buchanan County Tuesday night.
Sgt. Jake Angle with the Missouri State Highway Patrol said around 11:30 p.m. Clinton County deputies tried to stop a vehicle for speeding on MO-116.
“They requested our assistance for pursuit of the vehicle westbound on MO-116,” Angle said. “Somewhere in the area of Lathrop.”
Angle said law enforcement officials were able to deploy two sets of spike strips during the chase that the vehicle struck but the pursuit continued on 116. A MSHP crash report said a 2016 Volkswagen Jetta crashed around 11:53 p.m. in Buchanan County when the driver was unable to negotiate a curve, ran off the south side of the roadway and hit a ditch about 1.5 miles north of Dearborn.
24-year-old Spencer Jaccob, the driver of the Jetta was reportedly transported to Mosaic Life Care for treatment of minor injuries.
Angle said it was later determined that both the vehicle and license plates were stolen out of Kansas. He said the case is being investigated by the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office.
The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Department and Dearborn Fire were also involved in the case.
The investigation continues.
