ST. LOUIS (AP) – A former deputy for the city of St. Louis has pleaded guilty in federal court, admitting he purchased drugs while in uniform and chauffeured a drug dealer.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that 31-year-old Jason Stewart pleaded guilty Wednesday to a charge of being a drug addict or drug user in possession of a firearm. He could face up to 30 months in prison at sentencing on March 14.
Federal prosecutors say Stewart was caught making a drug transaction in October. Authorities stopped Stewart and found heroin. He was in uniform at the time and armed with a revolver.
He told authorities he had driven at least one heroin dealer while on his rounds in exchange for drugs.
