Adult summer reading program to kick-off Monday

book, readThe St. Joseph Public Library is getting ready for its grown-up Summer Reading Program.

This year adults can participate for the full nine-week program. The adult theme, “Exercise Your Mind: Read” begins May 16th and runs through July 16th.

Adults, 18 and older, may win one of the weekly prizes, or a Grand Prize at the end, by reading and entering the book titles read in a drawing at any of the four library branches.

Beginning Monday, May 23rd, Marcia Rippe RN nurse educator with Arthritis Community Services will present a series of health improvement programs for adults titled “Walk with Ease” at the Downtown Library, 927 Felix Street. These programs are designed to help adults form a walking exercise habit and thus improve overall health. The six-week program will be every Monday and Tuesday between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. at the Downtown Library. The programs begin May 23rd and 24th and run every Monday and Tuesday through to June 27th and 28th (except for Monday, May 30, Memorial Day) Sign up is encouraged but not necessary.
