The St. Joseph Mustangs had their three-game winning streak snapped Friday night as they lost to Ozark 10-7 inside Phil Welch Stadium.
St. Joe’s summer college baseball drops to 11-4 and 7-4 in the MINK League.
Ozark jumped out to a quick lead as they led 3-0 after one inning and added two more in the fourth. The score remained 5-0 until the seventh inning when the Mustangs started their comeback.
Brady Anderson scored on a double steal in the seventh and then Matt Wollnik added an RBI single.
St. Joseph then scored four runs in the eighth inning to take the lead as Brady Anderson hit a two-run home run and Orencio Fisher scored the go ahead run on a wild pitch.
Mustangs’ closer Steve D’Amico came on in the ninth but he blew his first save of the season. He allowed five runs, but only two were earned. D’Amico walked two batters, while Tyler Cox and Brett Marr each committed an error.
Louis Mele went 3-for-5 with a run scored to lead the St. Joe offense. Anderson and Marr added two hits and two RBI each.
The Mustangs are back at home Saturday as they host Chillicothe at 7:00 p.m. inside Phil Welch Stadium. The game will be broadcast on ESPN 1550.
