David W. Streit
1977-2016

unnamed (30)HOLTON – David W. Streit, 38, of Holton, was found Saturday, June 18, 2016 at his home.
He was born August 15, 1977 at Sabetha, the son of Herbert and Denise Winters Streit. He attended Holton Schools and received his High School diploma about a year ago from Fresh Start, an accomplishment he was very proud of.
David worked at a variety of jobs. He did car detailing, and cut and sold wood. He also worked at Hutton Monuments in Topeka and for Strube Monument Service in Holton, and helped work on cars at Complete Car Care in Holton.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Arnold and Lola Streit, and John and Marie Winters, and by an aunt, Karla Grau.
Survivors include his parents, Herbert and Denise Streit, Holton; two sisters, Kerry Becker and husband Justin, Holton, and Amanda Wright, Topeka, two nieces, Kelsi and Lauren Wright, one nephew, Micah Becker, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Cremation is planned. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 25th at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Holton. Memorials are suggested to the David Streit Memorial Fund, to be used to help with expenses, or the Heart of Jackson Humane Society, and may be sent in care of Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, P. O. Box 1034, Holton, KS 66436.

M. Virgil Hawkins
1952-2016

Hawkins, M. Virgil. obitphotoM. Virgil Hawkins, 63, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Saturday, June 18, 2016.
He was born November 4, 1952 in St. Joseph, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin D. Hawkins.
Survivors include mother, Mary L. (Baker) Hawkins; and sister, Carla Idlet.

Lucy Helen Diebolt
1918-2016

unnamed (29)Lucy Helen Diebolt, 97, Stanley, Kansas died peacefully in her sleep Sunday morning June 19, 2016 at Vintage Park of Stanley of natural causes.
Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Benedict’s Church with Abbot Barnabas Senecal, OSB as celebrant. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. A rosary will be recited on Thursday at 9:30 A.M. at St. Benedict’s Church with visitation to follow until 10:30. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Benedict School Endowment and may be left in care of Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with whom the final arrangements have been entrusted.
Lucy was born on August 6, 1918 in Atchison County Kansas the seventh child of George Anton and Lucy Bridget (Colgan) Diebolt. She graduated from Mount St. Scholastica Academy in Atchison and continued to take classes through the Civil Service as well as various colleges throughout her life.
She traveled extensively in Cuba, Japan, China, Ireland and Portugal and lived for a short time in Alaska.
She earned the Meritorious Civilian Service Award, one of the highest civilian awards that can be granted by the Air Training Command. She retired after thirty five years as a federal employee, thirty years of that time at Mather Air Force Base in Sacramento, California. She first came to work there as a statistical clerk and was serving as a program analyst in the comptroller division at the time she retired. She returned to Kansas in February of 2013.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, John, Ralph, George and Joe and two sisters, Catherine Bryant and Dorothy Ebbrecht Merrigan.
Lucy is survived by many nieces and nephews and even more grand nieces and nephews, and a sister-in-law, Mrs. George (Mary Lou) Diebolt of Atchison, Kansas.
Even though she remained single all her life, she cared for her immediate and extended family with a generosity that knew no boundaries.

Dixie Fern White
1932-2016

White, Dixie. obitphotoDixie Fern White, 84, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Sunday, June 19, 2016 at a local healthcare facility.
She was born February 9, 1932 in Springfield, Missouri.
Dixie married Lloyd L. White, Sr. in 1949. She worked for Noma Lights for several years prior to being a housewife.
She enjoyed cooking and gardening. Dixie loved the holidays and her family was most important to her.
Mrs. White was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Sr.; parents, Donald and Flora (Grable) Morlock; son, Lloyd White, Jr.; and sisters, Charlotte Kerns and Nina Pratt.
Survivors include son, Gaylen White (Phil), St. Joseph, Missouri; three grandchildren, Michael White, Los Angeles, California, Christopher White (Amber), Cameron, Missouri and Gail Brown (Eric), St. Joseph, Missouri; three great-grandchildren, Christina, Gabe and Presley White; sisters, Elaine Kretzer, Houston, Texas, Betty Pilcher, St. Joseph, Missouri and Claudia Butler, St. Joseph, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Mosaic Life Care Hospice and Diversicare-Riverside Place for the exceptional care of Dixie during her final days.
Farewell Services 1:00 P.M. Friday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery.
