The results of a community survey will be released today by the Community Alliance of St. Joseph.

The results will be shared at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 28, at the St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce, 3003 Frederick Ave.

The survey was administered by ETC Institute, an Olathe, Kan., company that has performed similar surveys in more than 500 cities throughout the United States.

“This is the fourth survey where the Alliance has partnered with ETC Institute,” said Steve Johnston, Executive Director of the Community Alliance. “The first survey was completed in June of 2010 with the others in 2012 and 2014.The results were used to help establish priorities for St. Joseph and Buchanan County. As an example, the City CIP Committee has used the results to help them determine priorities based on resident input.”

The survey results will continue to be a valuable benchmarking tool for St. Joseph. Many of the questions posed to St. Joseph residents are asked of other cities’ residents by the ETC Institute.

“The survey allows us not only to see how we compare with other communities, but most importantly, to see what our residents feel is most important,” Johnston said.

After the 2016 results are reviewed, the Community Alliance will spend the next few months looking at the data and jointly determining both short- and long-term goals to develop appropriate strategies.
