Everett “Doodle” Dwayne Matthews Sr
1951-2016
Everett “Doodle” Dwayne Matthews Sr. 64, of St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Thursday, June 30, 2016 at Mosaic Life Care Hospital. He was born August 14, 1951 in Dekalb, MO. He served proudly in the Marines, and worked in the construction industry. He had a heart of gold and was always helping other people. He enjoyed playing cards, bingo, fishing, collecting sport cards, woodworking and carpentry. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. He adored everyone, and he was a member of the Eureka Valley Baptist Church. Doodle was preceded in death by parents, father, John Samuel Matthews, step-mother, Flora Ann, mother, Shirley Goldesberry, step-father, David Goldesberry, a sister, Deborah Matthews, and one great grandson, Cyler Matthews. Survivors include, son, Everett “Doodle” Matthews Jr. (Fiance Deniece) of St. Joseph, MO, daughter, Deborah Guthrie (Adam) of Tiffin, IA, sons, John (Rhiannon) Matthews, and Joseph Matthews (Fiance Katie) both of St. Joseph, MO, brother, Johnny Ray (Ava) Matthews, sister, Joyce (Everett) Jonas, half-sister, Amy (Art) Hecker all of of St. Joseph, MO, nine grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Rupp Funeral Home with Rev. Dude Kelly officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday at the Rupp Funeral Home. The Interment will be at the Bethel Cemetery. Memorials are requested to the Everett Matthews Memorial Fund in care of the Rupp Funeral Home.
Shirley Ann Couldry
1944-2016
Shirley Ann Couldry, 72, of St. Joseph, MO passed away Thursday, June 30, 2016 at Mosaic Life Care Hospital. She was born February 26, 1944 in St. Joseph, Missouri daughter of the late Laura & Ivan Conard. She and Charles “Dick” Couldry were married 25 glorious years. She graduated from Benton High School in 1962, and received her Associates Degree from Missouri Western State College in Accounting and Business. She was a Homemaker. Her family was her greatest love. She was our “go to mom” who solved all our problems, always with love and understanding. She was the rock and foundation of our family. She was very talented and could do any and all crafts. She would sit hours at a time making something, and then would give it to someone as a gift. She would never sell it because she always said it would have no worth. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Laura Lee Gentry. Survivors include husband: Charles “Dick” Couldry of the home, daughters: Penney Renee Robinson Boling and companion (Tommy), Nicole “Nicky” Lee Robinson-Steele & husband Derek, son, William “Joe” Robinson and companion Stephanie, step-daughters, Shelli (Kevin) Steeby, Kelli (Derrall) Jackson, brother, Robert Lee Conard, grandkids: Sami, Laura, Beau, Tasha, Joe, Rod, Blake, Brad, Leslie, and Brandon, step-grandkids, Kevin Jr., Katelin, Brandon, Kayla, Kellica, and Jerod, and 20 great grandchildren. A Celebration of Shirley’s Life will be 1:00 P.M. Sunday, July 3, 2016 at Mom and Dads home.
Gerald Lee Schumann
1939-2016
Gerald Lee Schumann, 77, of Emporia died on Friday, July 1, 2016 at the Holiday Resort Care Center in Emporia.
Gerald was born on June 27, 1939 in Sabetha, Kansas the son of George Henry and Edith May Feller Schumann. Gerald was baptized into the Triune God on July 30, 1939, and was confirmed in the faith in 1953 all in Hiawatha, Kansas. He married Orinne Alice Lacy on August 29, 1959 in Hiawatha, Kansas. She survives.
Other surviving family members include: sons, Mike Schumann and wife Shannon, Daniel Schumann and wife Donna, David Schumann all of Emporia, and Samuel Schuman of Topeka; daughters, Michelle Gavin and husband Brad, and Gaye Harden and husband Russell both of Emporia; former daughter in laws, Sandra Heins, and Frankie Carr; sisters; Suzanne Anderson of Lawrence, and Nanci Oswald and husband Gary of Hiawatha; grandchildren, Josh Taylor, Jerrod Schumann, Kali Carson, Jamie Hilton, Lacie Schumann, Garrett Schumann, Colton Schumann, Angela Richard, Ashley Salter, Chelsea Barry, Jacob Schumann, Dee Dee Schumann, and Matthew Harden; great-grandchildern Shayne McGee, Austin Houck, Bode Richard, Harper Richard, Traeger Garnett, Porter Garnett, Jagger Salter, Audrina Barry, Sebastian Barry, Miles Schumann, Grayson Schumann, Mandee Schumann, Brian Schumann, Brandon Hammond, Randall Hinson, Madelyn Harden, and two more on the way.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Larry Schumann, and brother-in-law Dean Anderson.
Gerald owned and operated Gerald Schumann Electric Inc. in Emporia for 41 years. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Emporia.
Funeral services are 10:30, Thursday, July 7, 2016 at the Messiah Lutheran Church, Emporia with the visitation Wednesday night from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home. Burial will take place at the Maplewood Cemetery, Emporia. The family request no flowers with the memorial contribution to the Emporia Christian School in care of the funeral home.

Patsey Kay Manley, 75, of Savannah, Missouri passed away Saturday, July 2, 2016 at her home. She was born December 31, 1940 in Little Rock, Arkansas, daughter of the late Darlene & Arvin Nix. Patsey was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert Manley Jr, and brother, Jimmie Ray Nix. Survivors include: son, Joseph Thomas of Chillicothe, MO, two sisters, Nancy Nix and Lois Robbins both of St. Joseph. Four grandchildren, Michael, Tesa, Wyatt, and Samantha. She will be cremated under the care and direction of the Rupp Funeral Home. There are no scheduled visitation or memorial services at this time.

Kelly H. Williams, Sr.
1962-2016
Kelly H. Williams, Sr., 53, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Sunday, July 3, 2016 at his home.
He was born July 18, 1962 to Robert and Kathleen Williams (Endicott) in Marysville, Kansas.
He grew up farming with his family and later attended Kansas State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Kelly would have celebrated 25 years of proud service with Altec Industries in October of 2016. He thoroughly enjoyed his position as Senior Consulting Engineer and the comradery of working with his colleagues.
Mr. Williams was a member of AOPA Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, Professional Engineer Association and Kansas State University Alumni Association.
He was an avid K-State fan and enjoyed farming, flying and skiing. Kelly most of all loved spending time with his family. His grandchildren were the apple of his eye.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert H. Williams.
Survivors include his mother, Kathleen Webb and step father, Charles Webb, Bates City, Missouri; three sons, Kelly H. Williams, Jr. (Carissa), Seneca, Kansas, Kerry J. Williams (Meaghan), Lawrence, Kansas and Trey Williams, Agency, Missouri; two grandchildren, Wrigly and Robert Rowan Williams; three siblings, Kristi Kirk (Donnie), Odessa, Missouri, Kerry R. Williams (Shannon), Lee’s Summit, Missouri and Kim Patterson (Jeff), Overland Park, Kansas; and beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Myrtle Evelyn King
1916-2016
HIAWATHA, KS Myrtle Evelyn King, 99, of Hiawatha, passed away at her daughter’s home in Hiawatha, Sunday, July 3, 2016.
She was born in McLouth, KS, November 29, 1916, one of five children born to the late Grant and Nita Gardner Myers. Myrtle grew up in McLouth, attending school there, later graduating from high school with the class of 1934.
Myrtle married Harold F. King, in 1934. To this marriage, they had seven children. They owned the locker plant in Nortonville before moving to Hiawatha in 1963, where he was manager of Hite’s Locker Plant. They later divorced in 1965.
Myrtle was well known in Hiawatha for being a waitress at the Delmonico Café for 16 years, along with several other restaurants through the years. She was a Green Thumb worker through the Brown County Health Dept. in the late 1980’s.
She loved watching her family grow, caring for flowers, playing bingo, and going to the Casinos. She was very active until her health no longer allowed her to get out.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters, a son Robert in 1964; a daughter Elizabeth Bertels in 2010; and 7 grandchildren.
Survivors include four daughters: Shirley (John) Pantle of Nortonville, Nancy Scherer and Barbara (Leroy) Kiefer, both of Atchison, Debra King of Hiawatha; a son Richard King (Fiance’ Dianne Hudgins) of Falls City, NE; 21 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; and 35 great-great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Myrtle’s life is planned for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 9, at Eternal Hope Family Life Center, 424 Oregon St., Hiawatha. Pastor Rich Lehmkuhl will officiate. Cremation will follow services with private family inurnment at a later date at the McLouth Cemetery.
Friends may call at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home after 10 a.m. Friday where the family will meet from 6 until 8 that evening.

Michael Dwayne Eiman
1966-2016
Michael Dwayne Eiman 50, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2016 at his home. He was born June 21, 1966 in St. Joseph, son of April and the late Dale Eiman. He graduated from Helen Davis (1989) and worked at UCP with the Meals on Wheels program. He enjoyed UCP, meals on wheels, bowling, Special Olympics, watching wrestling & the Chiefs, loved to dance, and listening to Garth Brooks. The family would like to thank the wonderful and caring staff’s at UCP, and PCS Progressive Community Services, Glenda King and the other care givers for their service to our son and brother Michael. He was a member of Grace Evangelical Church. Preceding him in death are his father, Dale Eiman, step-brother, Jeffrey Eiman. Survivors include, mother, April Jean Eiman of Saint Joseph, MO, brother, Brandon (Mindy) Eiman of Saint Joseph, MO, nieces, Lauren & Taylor Eiman, two step-brother, Richard Dale (Patti) Eiman of Savannah, MO, and Scott (Barbie) Eiman of Chanhassen, MN, step-sister, Lana Kay Reynolds of St. Joseph.
