Shoppers can head out to buy back-to-school supplies without being taxed this weekend.
The three day back to school tax holiday in Missouri starts Friday at 12:01 a.m. and runs through Sunday.
During that time certain back-to-school purchases like clothing, school supplies, computers and other items as defined by state statute are exempt from sales tax. CLICK HERE for more information on what is exempt.
There are many things going on over the Tax Free Weekend.
The United Way of Greater St. Joseph will be out collecting school supplies through its Stuff the Bus program. Busses will be at both St. Joseph Walmart locations Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Donated supplies will then be distributed through the United Way and the Salvation Army for families who need assistance.
The East Hills Shopping Center said it plans to hold a back to school concert and other events during the Tax Free Weekend.
X-Factor contestant John Lindahl and local band Head in the Sand will perform Saturday at 2 p.m. at the mall in Center Court. The mall has also extended its hours. Friday and Saturday it will be open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
