Disturbance in midtown prompts police response

St Joseph Police carPolice took one man into custody after a disturbance Monday night in midtown.

Capt. Jeff Wilson with the St. Joseph Police Department said around 7 p.m. officers responded to the 900 block of S. 16th.

“Some of the people that live in the house came out and went to the neighbor’s house and said call the police one of the individuals has guns,” Wilson said.

Wilson said some of the individuals in the home were believed to be connected to incidents that took place earlier in the day around St. Joseph that led to  police responses.

Authorities blocked off roads in the area for about 45 minutes. Three men surrendered to authorities. Wilson said a 20-year-old man was arrested and several guns were seized. The investigation continues.

A press conference it scheduled for 1:30 p.m. to talk about situations that took place around St. Joseph yesterday that prompted police responses.  However, in-depth details are not expected as Wilson said it’s an ongoing investigation.
