For today into early tomorrow, shower and thunderstorm chances will persist for much of eastern Kansas into northern and central Missouri. As a front tracks across the region this weekend, look for drier conditions to settle in through at least the start of next week. While widespread severe weather is not anticipated for today, some storms could become strong, containing gusty winds and moderate to locally heavy rainfall. Today: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 78. South southwest wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tonight: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 1 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 60. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. 

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 79. Calm wind becoming north northwest around 5 mph in the afternoon. 

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 58. Light and variable wind. 

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 82. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 9 mph in the morning.
