A head-on collision in southwestern Kansas claimed the life of a man from Liberal, Kansas Tuesday morning.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says a Ford Taurus driven by Michael Riedel crossed the center line on U.S. Highway 54, 12 miles west of Liberal, at 7:21 a.m. The vehicle crashed into a semi in oncoming traffic. The 62-year-old Liberal man died in the crash.

The truck driver was also injured. The crash report identifies him as Guillermo Pimentel, 57, of Conroe, Texas.
