A bicyclist from Australia was killed when he was hit along a southeastern Kansas highway.

The Kansas Highway Patrol crash report says Michael John Balfe of Claremont, West Australia was riding on U.S. Highway 54 east of Eureka, Kansas at 8am Monday. His bicycle was hit from behind by a car and shoved into a ditch.

The motorist, identified in the crash report as 32-year-old Shawn Patrick Echols of El Dorado, Kansas, was not injured.
