The Lafayette softball team fell short of a return trip to the Class 3 Final Four as they lost in their sectional game Wednesday at Heritage Park to Smithville 6-4.

The Fighting Irish finishes their season 19-9 but did lose both meetings with the Warriors.  Smithville also defeated Lafayette last month 8-5.

The Warriors improve to 20-8 and move on to the Class 3 Quarterfinals on Saturday against Oak Grove, who defeated Chillicothe on Wednesday 10-0.
