Leona Mae Hale
1925-2016
Leona Mae Hale 90, of Saint Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, October 10, 2016 in a Saint Joseph, MO health care center. She was born November 12, 1925 in St. Joseph, MO, daughter of Flossie and Charles Teschner. She worked at Whitaker cable, and Noma Lites. Leona was preceded in death by her parents, son, Bob Hale, three brothers, Charles, Clyde and Buss Teschner, four sisters, Hazel Canterberry, Juanita Roberts, Lorene Mace, and Betty Green. Survivors include, daughter, Debby Perry, son, Ricky Hale, daughter-in-law, Sandie Hale all of St. Joseph, MO, grandchildren: Heather (Doug) Richmond Weatherby Lake, MO, Tammi Hale, and Jeff (Irene) Hale, and a brother, Bob Teschner of St. Joseph, MO.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Thursday, with a Celebration of life to begin at 2:00 pm, on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at Rupp Funeral Home. The Interment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery.
Leona May Hale
1925-2016
Leona May Hale, 90, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2016. She was born November 12, 1925 in St. Joseph, MO, daughter of Flossie and Charles Teschner. Previously working at Armours, Whitaker Cable and Noma Lites, she became a lifelong, devoted, full-time caregiver to her injured son.
Leona was preceded in death by her parents; son Bob Hale; three brothers, Charles, Clyde and Buss Teschner; and four sisters, Hazel Canterbury, Juanita Roberts, Lorene Mace, and Betty Green. Survivors include son Ricky Hale, daughter Debby Perry, and daughter-in-law Sandie Hale, all of St. Joseph, MO; grandchildren Tammi Hale of St. Joseph, MO, Jeff (Irene) Hale of Hamilton, NJ, and Heather (Doug) Richmond of Weatherby Lake, MO; and brother Bob (Shirley) Teschner of St. Joseph, MO.
Leona loved the outdoors – from barefoot childhood adventures, climbing trees to savor homemade pickles, to late life tending of pristine rose bushes and flower pots while watching her favorite birds on the front porch. She enjoyed shopping – whether at garage sales for the perfect gem to redecorate her home or East Hills Mall for the latest fashions and gifts for her family. Leona was also competitive – she’d calculate for hours to get the highest point word in Scrabble and never let anyone else win, including her grandchildren!
The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM Thursday, with a Celebration of Life to begin at 2:00 pm, Thursday, October 20, 2016 at Rupp Funeral Home. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Jennifer Anne (Murphy) Pyatt
1960-2016
Jennifer Pyatt, 56, Faucett, Missouri passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at her home.
She was born March 26, 1960 in Maryville MO.
Jennifer married Robert E. “Rob” Pyatt November 17, 1990.
She was a financial analyst at Truman Medical Center and enjoyed gardening and cooking.
Jennifer was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Helen (Brownell) Murphy; and father-in-law, Robert F. Pyatt.
Survivors include husband, Rob, Faucett MO; sons, Robert Charles and Alexander Murphy Pyatt, Faucett MO,; mother-in-law, LaVaughn Pyatt; uncle G.L. ”Cowan” Brownell (Angie); and cousins Neil and Bonnie Faucett.
Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 A.M. Monday, St. Francis Xavier Church. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Prayer Service at 6:00P.M. Sunday. The family will receive friends 6:30 to 8:30 P.M. Carol Sue Mullins
1944-2016
Carol Sue Mullins, 71, Atchison, Kansas died Wednesday, October 12, 2016, surrounded by her family at her residence.
Mass of Christian burial will be Monday, October 17, 2016, at 10:30 A.M. at Sacred Heart Church with Fr. Jeremy Heppler, OSB as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. A parish rosary will be recited Sunday, October 16, 2016 at 3:30 P.M. at the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with visitation to follow until 5:00 P.M. Memorial contributions are suggest to Atchison Hospice or Mosaic Oncology and may be left in care of the funeral home.
Carol was born November 9, 1944, in Atchison, Kansas, the daughter of William “Bill” and Della Mae Barker Franzel. She attended Sacred Heart Elementary School and graduated from Atchison High School.
She and Michael A. “Mike” Mullins were united in marriage on August 28, 1970, at St. Benedict’s Church in Atchison, Kansas.
Carol was a member of St. Benedict Parish in Atchison.
Survivors include her husband Mike of the home, a son Robert Anthony Mullins, Atchison, Kansas, and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her three sisters, Judy Helmick, Patricia Franklin, and Olive Fisher.
Joseph Eugene Fry
1949-2016
Joseph Eugene Fry 67, of St. Joseph, Missouri, went to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, October 13, 2016 from his home in St. Joseph, MO. surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 1, 1949 in Wathena, KS, son of Genevieve and Elmo Fry. He graduated from Benton High School 1967 and married Judy Decker on August 7, 1970 and she survives of the home. He served in the Army, 1st Infantry Div, Big Red One and is a veteran of the Vietnam War, and a recipient of the Purple Heart. he then enlisted in the Missouri Air National Guard and retired after 21 years of service. He worked at Crouse Milling, and Stone Container retiring after 22 years of service. Joseph enjoyed traveling spending time with his friends and family, history, and telling stories, and going on numerous Mission trips to help the Navajo Indian nations. He was a member of the Faith Valley Church of God. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Roberta Fry, and Adaline Fry. Survivors include, wife Judy of the home, two sons, Jeffrey E. Fry of St. Joseph, MO, and Randy J. (Melissa) Fry of Agency, MO, daughter, Amy J. (Michael) Wiedmaier of St. Joseph, MO, nine grandchildren, Ethan, Cayden, Haley, Hannah, Holly, Lily, Maddox, Elsa, and Emery, three great-grandchildren, Maycie, Landon, and Scarlett, and his brother-in-law, Steve Decker of St. Joseph, MO.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm, on Monday, October 17, 2016 at Faith Valley Church of God, with Pastor Mark Smith officiating, The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday at the Rupp Funeral Home. The Interment will be at the Westlawn Cemetery . with Military honors provided by the Missouri Air National Guard. Memorials are requested to the Faith Valley Church of God Mission Fund.
James “Jim” Nelson Jann
1936-2016
James “Jim” Nelson Jann, 80 of St. Joseph, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at his home. He was born March 18, 1936 in St. Joseph, MO. He married Mary C. Hazelrigg on October 6, 1961 and she survives of the home.
He grew up on a farm outside of St. Joseph and graduated from Savannah High School. He worked as a salesman for Goetze Dental for over 45 years and was a part time farmer.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Terry Jann of Syracuse, NY, and David Jann of St. Joseph; two grandchildren, Matthew Jann and Derek Jann; two sisters, Gaile DuBois of Boonville, MO and Louise Cummings of St. Joseph. Jim was preceded in death by his parents.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00PM, on Monday, October 17, 2016 at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home, Savannah, MO, with visitation 2:00-4:00PM Sunday, October 16, 2016 at Breit Hawkins Funeral Home, Savannah, MO. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in St. Joseph.
