Two children and one adult were killed and multiple others suffered life-threatening injuries when a truck plowed into a Halloween hayride in rural Mississippi.
The victims were all on a trailer which was being towed by another vehicle near Chunky in Newton County. NBC News reports the trailer was rear-ended by a pickup truck.
The three dead were related according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
John Williamson, director of emergency management for Newton County, said there were 10 victims in the crash — all of them on the trailer — of whom three were dead.
Survivors were taken to three area hospitals where they were being treated for life-threatening injuries.
The accident happened at about 7:45 p.m. CT Monday on U.S. 80 in Chunky, Miss., a town of fewer than 400 people about 80 miles east of Jackson.
