The Savannah Police Department is investigating a suspicious incident that placed the High School on lockdown Wednesday morning.
The school, located at 701 State Hwy E was placed on lockdown around 10 a.m. due to suspicious activity nearby. It has since been lifted. Chief David Vincent with the Savannah Police Department said a woman reported that she was driving down the highway when a man jumped out with a handgun and shot at her car running her off the road then took off. Authorities are investigating the crash in the area of 71 and 8th St. Vincent said so far there is no evidence that the woman was shot at.
Vincent said police found where she ran off the road and blew out two tires but were unable to find anything else. He said there was no evidence of damage from gunshot to the vehicle and no other witnesses. He said police are continuing to investigate but that so far there is no significant evidence.
