A Chillicothe teen was injured in a one vehicle crash after swerving to miss an animal in the road.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 17-year-old Mary K. Rounkles was driving north on Route D, two miles south of Ludlow around 7:51 p.m. Saturday when she swerved and crossed the center line to try to avoid hitting an animal in the road. Rounkles overcorrected the vehicle which went off the east side of the road. The front bumper hit an embankment causing the vehicle to spin and strike the embankment with the back bumper. The vehicle went back on the road and traveled off the west side before coming to rest on its wheels.
Rounkles was transported by Chillicothe EMS to Hedrick Medical Center for treatment of moderate injuries. She was wearing a seatbelt.
