Organization to expand disability services and add jobs in St. Joseph

Easter SealsA nonprofit organization plans to expand disability services to St. Joseph and add 30 new positions.

According to a news release, Easterseals Midwest, a nonprofit organization providing disability services to more than 4,500 people across the state, has expanded to St. Joseph in partnership with Progressive Community Services. On Jan. 1, 2017, Progressive Community Services will transition their Community Living services to Easterseals Midwest.

“Our mutual goal is to serve and empower people with disabilities, and together we are increasing our capacity to bring high quality services to the St. Joseph, Missouri community while maximizing our state’s limited funding,” said Wendy Sullivan, chief executive officer of Easterseals Midwest.

Easterseals is also seeking to fill nearly 30 new full and part-time positions in St. Joseph.

“Our Community Living staff supports people with disabilities in daily activities such as meal preparation, exercise, personal care, and community engagement,” said Laurel Taylor, Vice President of Human Resources at Easterseals Midwest. “We welcome applicants from all backgrounds to consider becoming part of our organization – these are rewarding careers that have a huge impact on the lives of individuals living with disabilities.”
