K-JO 105.5 has donated more than a thousand toys to the Noyes Home for Children and the Adopt-A-Family Christmas program with help from community members.
Community volunteers have been donating toys to the K-JO toy drive for more than a month now. Wednesday night K-JO, dropped off hundreds of toys, clothes, and other gifts to 32 kids at the Noyes Home for Children. Thursday morning, hundreds of more toys were taken to AFL-CIO Community Services for its Adopt-A-Family Program for distribution through the agency’s gift room.
Penney Adams with AFL-CIO said the Adopt-A-Family program matches up needy families with donors, who supply Christmas gifts in a number of ways. For families who are not adopted, the gift room is opened up for Christmas shopping. As of Wednesday evening, the agency was still trying to get 230 families adopted out of the 740 who applied.
