Gary D. Emberry
1948-2017

embetty-gary-obit-photoGary D. Emberry, 68, born March 19, 1948 in St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Mosaic Life Care.
He married Karen Sue Mishler in 2005.
Gary proudly served in the US Army during Vietnam.
Gary enjoyed CB radios with the handle “MoDrifter”.
He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Emberry; and son, Aaron Emberry.
Survivors also include mother, Leona Emberry; wife, Karen; children, Shona Kirkwood (Kraig), Laura Lake, David Emberry, Kristina Froberg (Cody), Breanna Froberg, Joshua Horner (Amanda), and Jason Horner (Teresa); nineteen grandchildren; and one great-grandchild; and brothers, Michael and Edward Emberry.

Ed West
1936-2017

William E. (Ed) West died January 3rd while vacationing in Texas.
Ed was born February 22, 1936 in Springfield, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his wife, Judith C. West, his son, Paul R. West, and his parents Paul and Rosamond West.
Ed graduated from Central High School and earned a BS in Aeronautical Engineering from The University of Kansas. After graduation, Ed worked in the infancy of the U.S. space program as an engineer working on Atlus rockets and Saturn I. Upon returning to St. Joseph he worked for St. Joseph Structural Steel, eventually becoming the CEO of the company.
Ed was a long-standing and prominent member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, and a past Exalted Ruler of St. Joseph’s BPOE Lodge 40. He was a member of the North St. Joseph Fishing Club and truly loved the time he spent at the Lake of the Woods in NW Ontario. He also treasured the winters he spent with friends at Isla Blanca Park in South Padre Island, Texas.
Ed is survived by his daughters, Julia O’Dell (Steven) of Lansing, Kansas and Susan Noland (Doug) of Kansas City, Missouri. He is also survived by his sister, Susan Lyons of Omaha, Nebraska; two grandsons, Joseph Berrigan and Robert Noland of Kansas City, Missouri; five granddaughters, Sarah Haught (Mike) of St. Joseph, Amanda O’Dell (Nathaniel) of Chicago, Illinois, Katherine O’Dell of Overland Park, Kansas, Alessandra West of Chicago, Illinois, and Ellie West of Boulder, Colorado; two great-grandsons, Owen and Charlie Krumdick; several nephews; and his sweet cat Spot.

She was born July 9, 1937 in Akron, Ohio.
Connie was a member of Ashland United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing bridge, mahjong, and traveling.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sydney and Dorothy (Elliott) Perry; former spouse, James B. Bowe, and brother Michael Perry.
Survivors include children, Stephanie Bowe of St. Joseph, Missouri and Stephen Bowe (Michelle) of Troy, Kansas; grandsons, Daulton, Collin, and Reid Jasper and Gannon and Holden Bowe; sister, Rosemary Carver; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was born September 30, 1927 in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Rosemary married the love of her life, Ellis Thorton Cooper May 17, 1947, he precedes her in death.
She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She was a lifetime member of Wyatt Park Christian Church and also belonged to the Christian Women’s Fellowship Group #2.
Rosemary loved her children and her grandchildren. She was a kind, generous and loving woman who will be missed by many.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Carolyn Campbell.
Survivors include daughter, Cheryl Baldwin (Don), St Joseph; sons, Greg Cooper (Sharon), McKinney Texas, Jim Cooper (Denise), Wichita, Kansas; grandchildren, Ryan, Brady, Matthew, Kristy and Rocky; eight great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; one step great-granddaughter.

Shirley was a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, crafts and was very proud of her birdhouses.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Calvin Madget; infant son; and sister, Carolyn Patterson.

Born March 16, 1949 in Waterloo, Iowa, he had been employed as a dock supervisor for the Shinn Fu Company of America for 10 years.
Mr. Collins was a member of Green Valley Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cleo H. and Delia E. (Birch) Collins; his granddaughter, Grace Edwards; and sisters, Judith Collins and Sherrill Kaye Collins.
(Survivors:) two daughters, Angela Davis and her husband, James and Jessica Edwards and her husband, Mark all of Rosendale, Missouri; six grandchildren, Jeremiah, Emily, Ashley and Lindsay Libich, Kolton Edwards and Bryanna Davis; two sisters, Marilyn York and Teggie Collins; a niece, Cheryl Mitchell and a nephew, Ronnie York.

Georgia F. Armstrong
1923-2017

Georgia F. Armstrong, 93, Kansas City, Missouri, formerly of St. Joseph, Missouri, died Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at a Kansas City health care facility.
Born December 7, 1923 in Worth County, Missouri, she had resided in St. Joseph for most of her life. She had been employed as a secretary and bookkeeper for the Chase & Poe Candy Company.
On February 27, 1943 she married Billy F. Armstrong. He preceded her in death on November 11, 1996.
Mrs. Armstrong was a member of Huffman Memorial United Methodist Church.
She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Susan Armstrong; parents, Virden R. and Elizabeth R. (Findley) Stevens; her brothers, Dale, Delbert, and Clifford Stevens.
(Survivors:) her son, Ronald D. Armstrong and his wife, Nancy of Platte City, Missouri; two grandchildren, Christopher Armstrong and fiancé, Julie Duquesne of Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Tyler Armstrong and his wife KateLynn of Kansas City, Missouri; three great-grandchildren, Diana, Rose, and Mara; and sister, Clella Yates of Surprise, Arizona.
