The St. Joseph Police Department urged motorists to avoid a section of 36 Highway due to a crash.

In an alert sent out around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, the department said to avoid eastbound U.S. Highway 36 at I-229 southbound due to a traffic crash.

According to an alert issued by Doniphan County eastbound traffic on Highway 36 at the 229 exit in Missouri was closed for a period and reopened by 3:30 p.m.
