Boil advisory lifted

Missouri American WaterbMissouri American Water has lifted a boil advisory for a large area south of St. Joseph, in effect since a water main break March 5.

Officials said they had one area in the system that dropped below their minimum pressure requirement (20 psi), and as a result issued the advisory as a precaution.

Over the next day or two they had continuing issues with drops in pressure as they worked to refill storage tanks. The utility said there was no evidence of actual contamination.

On Tuesday afternoon, MAW issued this advisory: “THE PRECAUTIONARY BOIL WATER ADVISORY IN ST. JOSEPH HAS BEEN LIFTED. THERE ARE NO ADVISORIES IN EFFECT AT THIS TIME, AND IT IS NO LONGER NECESSARY TO BOIL THE WATER PRIOR TO CONSUMPTION.”
