Krug Park slaying case delayed

A man accused in a fatal stabbing at Krug Park last October gets two more weeks to decide if he wants to go to trial or change his plea.

Sebastian Dowell appeared in court Monday for a trial-setting docket, but Prosecuting Attorney Dwight Scroggins told the judge he needs more time to reach an agreement with the defense lawyer in the case. Judge Daniel Kellogg rescheduled the case for March 27 at 1:15 p.m.

“We look for some kind of final decision on that date,” Scroggins told the judge.

Dowell is charged with 2nd degree murder for the killing of Kaytlin Root last October. A co-defendant, Amanda Bennett, pleaded guilty to that same charge last month and is scheduled for sentencing May 9.
