Suspect arrested again after additional charges filed in sodomy case

William Marshall was arrested Friday

A St Joe man free on bond in a sex-crime case is back in jail on three new counts allegedly involving the same night with the same 16-year-old girl.

As we reported, William Marshall, 41, is already charged with first-degree sodomy. He is currently scheduled for jury trial in October in that case. Circuit Judge Patrick Robb set conditions for bail, including a 9 pm curfew seven days a week, no direct or indirect contact with the victim, and a requirement that he reside with his mother and step-father.

Officials say Marshall presents a danger to the victim. Prosecutors said last month that he allegedly threatened the girl’s mother on the telephone.

On Friday, prosecutors filed three new counts of sodomy and one count of first-degree sexual abuse against Marshall. The three new allegations concern the same girl on the same night as the first complaint. Marshall was arrested on the new warrant on Friday and is behind bars at the Buchanan County Jail.

Marshall is scheduled for a first appearance in the new case Tuesday at 9 am before Associate Circuit Judge Keith Marquart. Bail on the new charges was set at $50,000, including $5,000 cash and $45,000 surety.
