The St. Joseph Police Department issued a Nixle alert around 3:30 Wednesday morning urging motorists to avoid the areas of 2700 Karen Lane and 100 Texas Avenue due to crews battling structure fires.

Sgt. Brett Kelley with the Police Department said fire crews were also working a third fire in the area of South 20th and Sylvanie. Kelley said he believed all fires were at residential structures.
